And now perhaps the Panopticon proposal for Accrington may be seen in it’s true light, as
Unoriginal, Derivative and Plagiarist; a cheap and shoddy copy of something else.
By accepting this proposal not only do we risk causing irreparable damage to an important Natural Landmark, we also expose ourselves to ridicule rather than respect. Far from being the toast of the NorthWest,
Accrington will become a laughing stock. It will make the people of Accrington look as cheap and ersatz as the work itself. It would demonstrate that we know nothing about Art and care little for our environment. How many tourists will flock to Accrington to see a pale pastiche of an original we cannot afford?
I can tell you now, before the thing is even off the drawing board –
NONE!
