Could have been written about the Coppice
I was listening to a song on the radio yesterday. It just happened to be on and the words struck me as describing how many of us here feel about the Coppice.
Here are the words which I thought were particularly relevant:
This used to be my playground [used to be]
This used to be our pride and joy
This used to be the place we ran to
That no one in the world could dare destroy
This used to be our playground [used to be]
This used to be our childhood dream
This used to be the place we ran to
I wish you were standing here with me
This used to be our playground [used to be]
This used to be our great escape
This used to be the place we ran to
This used to be our secret hiding place
This used to be our playground [used to be]
This used to be our childhood dream
This used to be the place we ran to
The best things in life are always free
I don't know if it would impress anyone else the same way but the Coppice used to be my playground. It was once the pride and joy of Accy. It was the place to run to to escape from the hustle and bustle of the town and to find secret hiding places and best of all yes - it was free and we didn't think anyone would ever dare destroy it. Of course all that was before the trees were planted and before the A56 sliced through the back of it.
The song of course is "This used to be my playground" by Madonna
