I sent this to a colleague who's a Stockport fan and got the following response:

"Ah, Micky Flynn's legendary long throw; unfortunately as a lumbering centre half you need him on the other end of them..

He once did one of these at the old, open, Putney bridge end at Fulham, and the wind whipping off the Thames sent it out for their throw-in on the other side."
