I remember Prince from when I was very small (pre-school, i.e. pre-1947). He was, I believe, a West Indian and his christian name was Prince. He was the only black man I knew and I used to stare at the poor man whenever I saw him on the bus. He, in return, used to wink at me, much to my delight.
