Not sure I agree with you on that one. While folks in the USA seem to munch on just about any fried food you can name (while I like a good piece of fried chicken, that's something that KFC doesn't make - a good one, I mean!) fish and chips have not been able to catch on as a fast food. Now, if we could just persuade a really good, experienced chippy to do it up right and open up a few shops on our side of the pond, perhaps that would change. A couple of fast-food chains tried it (Arthur Treacher's and Long John Silver's) but they have not had huge success (Treachers was doing all right for a while, but they didn't treat their franchisees very well, and I haven't seen one of their shops in years).
Part of the problem may be that a lot of Americans just are not big fish eaters.
