I also heard this on the radio and listened with utter disbelief. Not disbelief about the motorway speed but shock at the 84mph in a 30 zone. This officer, no matter how skilled he claims to be, obviously has little or no regard for human life, as any area classed as a 30mph zone is obviously a built up urban area. The police have areas where cars of this calibre can be tested and drivers put through their paces.

Having a bit of power and acceleration potential in a car can get a driver out of trouble but only if the driver knows how to correctly use that facility. If you speed up to avoid an accident a sensible person would slow down once the coast was clear. It is speed in inappropriate places which kills. The law in this country really is an ass, this officer should have been banned....
