Red means stop.

Yellow (or amber, or whatever colour you want to call it) means that there is a train after the next signal (ie the next one will be red) and 2 yellows means that the train is past the next 2 signals (ie the next one will be a single yellow, and the one after will be a red). Basically the same as on the road, proceed with caution and be prepared to stop.

Green means go!

A train driver told me this
