I remember watching a documentary of an English lady who had a child who also had thalidomidia and found that fascinating too. If I remember right she was also a single mum. It followed her story when the child was a bit older too and how she and her son had learnt to deal with things like crossing the road (as we always told our kids to hold our hands).
