I have to agree that it is the most disgusting habit. Most ordinary people are either not aware of the increasing TB rate, or simple don't care because they think it won't affect them.

I too have made a lady clean up spit from a hospital floor when she leaned out of bed and gobbed at my feet. I calmly handed her a tissue as she pointed at the domestic. I got the translator to come to the ward and get her to clean it up. I also got the translator to tell her that she was being discharged there and then, and got her husband to come and fetch her...

I can't abide spitting....
