Re: What did you want to be?

At age 15 when I had just finished college, I wanted to work with children. I actually went to a meeting at Blackburn collage about it all. I went through a induction programme for a full day, then about 2 hours before the end they said to me " You will have to do 12 month working with the elderly, then be placed on a 2 year course with children".
Well after being told i would have to work with the elderly I said "no thank you" the thought terrified me.
At age 19 and up til now I work with the elderly, love every minute of it, and the fulfillment i feel from my job is fantastic. I really do make a difference to peoples lives every day, and i wouldn't change a thing. Sometimes it gets me down, but i have more good days than i do bad days. I get to meet some of the most interesting people I will ever meet through my job and, I cant stand monotony, which is why I don't work in a factory (tried this once too). Everyday is something different and i love a challenge and boy do i get it sometimes.......But it is the job i chose and the job I love.
