Re: N H S a cock up.

Best wishes to Mick. Being in a similar position with my own heart I know how distressing this can be.

The only thing that I can suggest is that you complain - LOUD AND AT LENGTH ! Make your complaint in writing to your GP, your Consultant, your MP, your MEP, the local area Health Authority, the Minister for Health, and Old Uncle Tom Cobbley and All, Threaten them with Solicitors, severally and individually. In short make yourself a pain in the arse till they give you what you need. Don't worry about them giving you substandard treatment, once they see that you are prepared to stand up for yourself they won't dare!

My best mates mother is 72, she has been in agony for the last three years with what she was told was a prolapsed bladder - or bladder infection - or Hypochondria - depending on who she saw. Eventually it was getting too much for her to cope with, she was getting up to go to the loo twenty odd times a night! So she paid for a private examination (£1,000). And it turns out that she did have a prolapse, but not of the bladder, it was her bowel. The examination also showed that she had Bladder Cancer.

But even after it was proved that she had been misdiagnosed, and nearly killed by negligence, the incompetence did not stop there. The solution to her problem she was told would be to have the lot, bladder, bowel, womb and ovaries ripped out and she would have to live with bags for the rest of her life. If you knew the lady concerned you would know just how unthinkable that was. So, she had to fight tooth and nail to keep her organs where they were. After six horrible months, a botched operation and equally botched BCG treatment, the consultant treating her arrogantly pronounced himself surprised that she had survived. But she has, and she has survived with all her bits intact because she would not meekly accept what they said. She will now be monitored twice a year against a return of the cancer and in another couple of months she will have her bowel prolapse fixed and she will be as right as rain!

We all work with people who are useless in their jobs, who are there just get a wage, why should the situation be any different with Nurses, GP's and Consultants?

Stuff deference! COMPLAIN and SURVIVE!! Good luck mate.

Oh and avoid Blackburn Royal Infirmary like the plague!
