I heard about this lady on the news, with some comments from her family and the authorities. It's very sad that this kind of thing could happen in this day and age. The failure of any of the authorities to gain access to her may well have been because of her depressed state after losing her husband/partner earlier this year, and her not letting them in for this reason.. However, would access have been gained to this lady had she not been paying her council tax for instance?

As for the family, I find it difficult to believe that out of 10 children and 30 grandchildren, not one of them had a key to her property. She may have been depressed and wanted to die, she may have been a cantankerous old biddy for all we know, but that should not have stopped her family from gaining access..
