It is quite recently that I have noticed the nights drawing in. When I used to work in Reigate (about 30 odd miles from where I live) I used to look forward to the long summer evenings so that I could ride home in daylight on the motorbike.

In the winter it's a different story. Have you ever tried riding home on a motorbike in the dark when its raining? Its fine until you meet a car going in the opposite direction - you can't see a thing!
There is a knack to it. Your eyes tend to be drawn to the lights, try looking at the edges of the road as opposed to the headlights. You soon become able to 'blank out' the bright points and get far better definition on the rest of the road. Also make sure you put a decent glass cleaner/polish(RainX is a total godsend) on the outside of your visor so that droplets don't 'stick'. You have a perefectly clear visor and good peripheral vision. Also make sure you are nice and warm and dry. Good gear makes a massive difference as your concentration is far better when warm and dry. Hein Gericke kit is very good stuff at a reasonable price.
