Now isn't this interesting..............?

I know that things on computer screens are not always as they seem.

Websites for instance. People who design them sometimes only view them with the one browser - the one which they use. This is all very well until people come along using a different browser and see something a little bit different.

Now you'd think this may only happen when you've got an inexperienced designr who wants to use some subtle colour scheme and isn't aware that it won't show up the same for everyone. It may not matter all that much except that a lot of work of colour matching has simply gone out the window because the "customer" isn't looking at their shop window through the same colour of tinted spectacles.

Mind you, even eBay has fallen into that trap in the forums. I wonder if they have seen them other than via IE? Then you get people like me who go opting for their favourite colours to substitute for blank white pages (I like a pale mauve) and it throws allsorts to pot.

But I couldn't help feeling sorry for someone who'd gone to all the trouble of designing a "floating advert" supposed to follow the cursor around their website and draw your attention to special offers ----- brilliant if you are using IE but totally absent to anyone using Firefox. I kept thinking "What advert?"
