totally agree - however flip the coin over! for the thickoids of this world with great musical talent (ie the Gallaghers) it provides a huge paycheck which would rescue them from the clutches of poverty, and which they would never be able to achieve in academic careers.
commercialism shouldnt be a part in music - but the money helps a chuffin lot!
