I will agree that Peel Court looks awful. It's interesting to note that all the private nursing homes are flurishing, it's only the one that was run by the council that lies empty. It was also in the Observer that someone has put in plans to turn it into flats.
As for the fire station which is also for sale, I can't imagine what else it could be besides a garage.

On just one stretch of Union road, there has recently opened a barbers, an opticians, an aromatherapists, and a made to measure dress shop, hardly the sign of a town in decline.
Plus in the pubs on the main road you can be three deep at the bar trying to buy a drink.
