There are hundreds around at any one time. I just picked out two big ones that seemed like they would be good for this area. You can get funds for all sorts of community things - community cohesion projects, refurbishment, garden projects, arts projects, etc. Usually the grants are up to £5,000 but the two I mentioned are far bigger. I'm also currently going for a couple of community cohesion funds that give out grants of up to £70k.

They come around all the time. The Lottery Living Landmarks one is currently inviting bids of up to £25m or £10m but there'll only be one of the £25m ones awarded in the UK. There's also foundations that have funding, Lloyds TSB, Co-op, Esmee Fairbairn etc. These usually give out small amounts up to about £1,000 for small community projects.

I know about it because I subscribe to a mailing that gives me the latest news about what's available.
