One small point, the mountain rescue teams are all volunteers and exist to promote mountain safety and to help those in distress. They don’t want to stop people walking or climbing in most conditions, but are happy to assist those who do go out in bad conditions so long as they have made every effort to safe guard their own safety to be best of there ability. The all point of going up a mountain is to test your own ability and skills, if people have neither and are not prepared to learn how to be safe in a range of conditions then they should stay at home. Just one other point, when I set out on the mountain the sun was shining; there was no wind and the sheep where happy in the fields. 9 times out of ten the conditions will change when you’re already up there, it’s how you work to minimise the risk factors that determines the outcome.
