Tribute bands are just another form of entertainment but it's all a matter of personal preference really. Some people enjoy watching tribute bands, some don't. The easy answer is, if you don't like tribute bands, don't go and see them.
Granted, no tribute band is as good as their original counterpart, but a lot come damn close and those tributes that are so bad that it's frankly an insult don't tend to last too long.
If you were to go to almost any classical music concert, you're actually watching a tribute to long dead composers and the original musicians who played their music. Why should a tribute to the music of Curt Cobain or Freddie Mercury or any other dead musician be any different?
