And it is not as though he is missing from the list for being on loan as that is also the case with no. 15 David Wright, on loan at Norwich.

Can't agree with the "to hell with Cav" comment. No player in a Stanley shirt deserves that. Edwards is primarily a centre-back who can play across the back line, not an out-and-out full-back so Cav is not automatically on the bench every time Edwards plays.

Even Jeff must admit that Darren Randolph and four defenders out of Cav, Edwards, Rocky, Welch, Tretton and Richardson is the best defence on paper that we've ever had. If this comes off and Randolph returns in January, I'd say Coley has got it sorted!

sorry, it would seem my to hell with cav comment was worded wrong. I didn't mean it literally, as what i meant was people's reputation and loyalty dont really count for much in football. If you can improve a position then go for it. Coley has proved in the past by wielding the axe on many a crowd favourite, bloody hell he was almost crucified by the crowd for his treatment of Lutel James. In case anybody else thinks I was having a go then I will re-iterate that I think Cav is a class act and deserves his place back in the team. He came to us with no reputation and would (if he did) leave us with a regular England place on his CV. HE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MOST RELIABLE AND TACTICALLY ASTUTE DEFENDER WE HAVE EVER HAD. But this type of class could not and would not warm the bench for us for any prolonged period of time.
