Oooh a thread wander! Can I join it please?

There were all sorts of battles and skirmishes and goings on in 1640/41 but most of those were in Scotland and Ireland weren't they? Didn't the King move Parliament up north on 1642?

Anyway it's yet another tragic loss of history to this area. We have so little remaining. Places where I used to wander free as a child now seem to be barred to me. When Busman first came up here I wanted to show him places of interest only to discover that I no longer had access to them. Gates had appeared with notices on saying "Private, Keep Out!"

Thanks for the photos A-b. I almost feel like saying they might as well stick a Panopticoon on the Coppice and have done with it. There's enough been ruined already that it really doesn't sound all that bad after all in comparison.

On the subject of litter I took this photo. At least they tried, and it's a very polite notice.
