My Mother's always reminding me of something she read in the paper last year, about a British man who was fined for writing derogatory things about the Pope on a UK internet forum.
It is quite frightening, and probably a lesson to us all that this isn't idle chat over a the garden fence, but liable to the same libel laws as any other printed matter.
