You know, I think these days quite a lot of people have relatives down-under as it’s no big deal in getting there apart from the red tape that is. It’s only a couple of days flying. A few years ago it was quite an undertaking as it involved a five or six week voyage to the other side of the world. But having said that, the cost of the voyage for my parents was £20.00 as they where passage assisted ( £10.00 poms). It wasn’t that easy to pop over and visit.
Newly arrived migrants would be housed in temporary accommodation, migrant Hostels and there where many of these all over the Au.
