in the late 60's the Boilermakers union used to have Friday night dues collection at the Bridge Inn? (corner of Warner st.) the Salvation Army used to come in and rattle their cans , they all wore their full uniforms ,(Bonnets included ) dont think anyone ever refused them a few shillings . I think they are one of the few charities in which I have any faith or trust , Here in the U S the the Sally Army was first on scene after the disaster along the Gulf coast [U]giving[U] out aid , not like the bloody Red Cross and other Govt. agencies
