Wwii Bomb Closes London Airport
London City airport has been closed and train services halted after a suspected unexploded Second World War bomb was found on a building site. The discovery was made at Canning Town, about a mile-and-a-half from the airport, at around 9.30am.
Trains were halted on the Docklands Light Railway and there were no flights leaving or arriving at the airport.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "This is an ongoing incident and the area has been cordoned off."
National Air Traffic Services said some flights were able to leave London City after the initial alert but all flights had stopped by midday
