The whole thing seems flawed. What criteria was used to decide which buildings were to be included? It certainly wasn't the date of building. Some houses are missed off it and some built later are included.

Interesting to note that the shop with the illuminated gun sign is in the conservation area area, even though according to the HBC link I posted such signage would seem to fall foul of their own rules.

Also interesting is that the ladies hairdressers at the end of Rhyddings Street is in the conservation area and does have window shutters, which according to the guidelines are illegal.

What is the point of this meaningless title of 'conservation area' if council rules are flouted and no one does anything about it. The whole thing is a farce.

Unsuprisingly a search on Hyndburn Borough Council's website for 'conservation' comes back with no match.
