Re: Name the stream

I'm bugg**ed if I know the name, but the route of the stream, roughly working backwards is as follows:

You can see where it emerges and joins the Stink by standing in the middle of the bridge over the Stink at Church, and looking towards the Sports centre entrance. If you then look down, you'll see the water coming out the side of the bank.

It is then along, to the back of the Bridge pub and then it goes underneath the Sacred Heart school. You can see quite clearly the dip in Tanpits road where the stream once made out a shallow valley. It then goes underneath the old Fraser Eagle coach garage and underneath Blackburn Road between the Snooker Hall & the Oaktree pub.

It is of, course, the eastern boundary between Church & Accy (the sign is there saying "Accy" and of course that is why the Oak Tree pub is so called (Accy being the place where Acorns grew...hence Oak Tree)

Church's western boundary with Ossy, is of course the Tinker, and on leaving Church along Blackburn Road, you can see the Ossy sign right above where the river goes underneath the road.

However, back to the Eastern stream...it was the daming of this that resulted in the reservoir on the Church/Accy/Ossy border, which was susequentlt divided in two by the railway. The new estate lies right on top...go further back, and it goes alongside Ossy Mills.

Changes in drainage in the mid-19th century, around Springhill & northern Ossy means that the stream collects only a tiny amount of waterflow.

I still don't know the name, though.
