Hi Davylad
For a start of there was no Abbey St till 1792 when blind Jack o Knaresborough built the road to the Haslingden boundry. Most of the early properties date from around 1800. Davy st ran off Infant St and it now the site of the telephone exchange.
There may be photo's in the local studies dept of the library, you would need to enquire from them, they have 1000's of photo's.

Hi Retlaw
Thanks for that info,
However I think it was about 1792 he went to live in Abbey St,I have a copy of a newspaper artical saying that he came to Abbey St. in 1792 from Yorkshire.
I have been intouch with the local studies and they have been most helpful and actually have documents dating back to 1843
Davylad.
