Well, Lancashire for a couple of reasons:
1) The geographic centre of Great Britain is at a place called Dunsop Bridge, which lies aprox. 10miles Nor'by North-West of Accy.
2) So if GB was a human body, that would make Lancashire the belly-button; However, we're talking about England, so chop off the skirt-wearers to the north & the sheep lovers to the west, and that moves the belly button south, the bum to the Brummies (how apt) and the heart to Lancashire.
3) HM the Queen - the living symbol of England - is of course, the Duke of Lancaster (second title, before Defender of the Faith, Queen of Scotland, Canada, Australia, etc, etc)
