Good people don't get the the press they should so here's your chance to tell everyone about someone who's done a really nice thing for you. I'm hoping we're not gonna get a load of descriptions of romantic marriage proposals as we all know that's nice wherever you get them. I mean someone who has gone the extra mile.

I'll start it - the nicest thing that someone has ever done for me is jump in the sea in France and save me from drowning. She swam to me, tried to get me to float on my back - which I can't do - abandoned that idea and got me safely back to gthe beach. To my eternal shame I have no idea who she was and the only thing I know is that she was french and, after she had saved my life, all I could say to her was a rather pathetic "merci".

I hope she has the most fabulous life ever. May her family prosper forever.
