I had just finished a night shift at QPH (as it was then)........we had had a shift from hell........I had been called in to do the night shift because someone had gone sick.....during the night I started to come down with the lurgy that was striking down all the staff....it was pure will power that kept me going until the end of duty. I was never so pleased to go off duty and get myself off to bed....except when I got to my car I found the front tyre had been vandalised. I sat on the kerb and wept.......two of the security guards saw my predicament an d took pity on me....they took me to their hut and sat me down with a brew while they set about and changed my front tyre.....one of them even asked if I was well enough to drive home. What great hearted lads they were.....I was very grateful for their help that morning.......when I went back to work later that week I took them some beers.
