Being retired and thus not having the need to go to work I have no need to get up with the rest of the herd. I can wake up at any time of the morning be it 8:00am or noon or any time in between. So I’m darned if I am going to set my alarm so that I can get up to put my bin out at 7:30am.
I put my wheelie bin out the evening before it is due to be emptied and so do most people round my way. No one has complained so far but I know what the answer will be if they do. Forum etiquette prevents me from stating what that answer will be.
However there is one drawback with putting the bins out the night before. If you listen carefully during the early hours of a morning you may hear a commotion outside. A quick look from behind the lace curtains will reveal the wheelie bins pushing and shoving each other in an attempt to be the first in the queue to be emptied. Sometimes this kafuffle can get so violent that one bin will end up flat on its back with its lid open gasping for breath and its innards spilled out onto the road.
Whatever happened to co-operation?
