There is a clear line of succession in the US Constitution. If the President dies, then the Vice President is sworn in as President. After the Vice President:
Speaker of the House
President Pro Tempore of the Senata
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
etc., etc.
