Re: osc - any new business

having give the matter a lot of thought, and having spoken to various people about it, and having mooted the idea a the last meeting, I and many others think the idea is a good one.

The basic principle Felix, is that Football League Supporters Clubs tend to put a lot more effort into the community, via the Football Club, which then has the knock-on effect of raising the clubs profile. The fact remains that although all money raised in the last few years has been welcome money, it is only a drop in the ocean compared to the turnover at ASFC. We (or I and the people I have spoken to) believe that by agreeing to split the proceeds we can raise more money than if it is purely for the football club. Outside of our fans, few people are willing to donate to the club because they aren't interested in football so why should they subsidise it? And I agree, if Accy Cricket Club were down town shaking their buckets then they'd get nowt off me, but if half went towards little jonnies wheelchair then I'd probably chuck 50p in.

It sounds mercenary, but as I stated, I believe we will a) get more money and b) will propel the name of the club forward more.

We have the ability to tap areas that the club can't or won't get into. And, how often does the club give to the community? Via the OSC they now will be doing. People associate the OSC as ASFC so the benefit will be mutual.

And anyhows, it will obviously have to go to the vote. I propose that monies raised through memberships and sales stay with the club, money raised through fundraising events get split. I would hope that over the next 12-24 months the number of fundraising events will soar, and as such so will the wet profit in the clubhouse which would more than make up for any shortfall in paint buying initiatives.
