sorry but I cannot agree with this argument that all should pay the same , why should single people without children have to subsidise couples who through there own choice decide to have children and therefore use more of the available resources, a single person uses less gas and electric than a family and therefore pays less,if people prefer to take a bath instead of a shower and use more water they should pay for it , if folks are too lazy to cook and produce more take-away wrappers and Pizza boxes they should have to pay for the disposal ( I've argued previously in other forums for increased taxes on 'fast food' for the street clean-up costs ) that being said ...I also think giving tax/rates (pensioners allowances)breaks to single occupiers of multi bedroom houses is wrong , there should be some way of making this accomodation available to young familys
