As someone who has used a home nebulizer since 1984 I think you will find that this form of treatment was started in around 1982. Previously pressururised nebulizers were used. I was treated in Bury General in 1980 with one of these machines which were called "The Bird" which was the name of the manufacturer. I first used an ordinary oxygen nebuliser in 1983 in Marsden hospital Burnley and purchased a conpressed air nebuliser in 1984 for home use. I have only ever seen the Bird used once since, that was in 1989 when I was in Queens Park. I found the article you pointed out in your reply very interesting Mick, allthough I still dont thick that ordinary oxygen nebs were used in the time the TV program was set. As I recall the doctors were calling the use of Nebs was a breakthrough in asthma treatment, a nd I have to say that without one I would not be here today
