Re: carlisle game
[quote=JEFF] we have over 500 season ticket holders WHERE WERE YOU?
Well, I was there, with my son-in-law, both of us S/T holders for last four years, paying on the gate guests prior to then.... we always stand in the same spot, at Clayton end.
Last night, it was distinctly noticeable that many 'ultras' were missing!
In their place, we seem to have attracted a relatively small number of what I can only describe as 'YOBS'!!
Their language was beyond the pale,(what happened to the mantra that 'foul & abusive language will not be tolerated' ..... there was a (youngish) steward, well within earshot... is it up to us to complain, or, should he react accordingly? Sorry, stewards, don't take this as a negative,I appreciate what a great job you do, always facing the crowd, & not even seeing any part of the game!!)
Their incessant foul-mouthed chanting was over the top,as was their barracking of the opposition....... to hum/chant the 'Death March' when one of the opposition goes down with a genuine injury may seem amusing to some, but, to me is abhorrant.
Maybe these people are always there, but, if so, are they normally 'drowned out' by the sound of the Ultras??
We also had the pleasure of an obvious under 16 (in for free?), two paces to our left, who was constantly spitting throughout the game, so much so, that we became seriously concerned for his health,(is he suffering from TB?) &, at the end, the step below him was was covered in so much sputum that it was a definite Health & Safety risk!
Anyway, suffice to say, that, had this been my first game at the IES, I think it would have been my last..... in my 50+ years of attending football matches, I have never been so disgusted about the behaviour of those around me!
Most of you may probably put this down as an over reaction from a 'grumpy old man', but, I remember the days, when, as a S/T holder at Maine Road, if anyone said so much as 'Bl**dy' when kids were nearby, they were severely admonished by those around them!!
Link my comments with other threads on here, & possibly, it might explain why we don't have better crowds to see, what is for me, the best footballing experience, as far as 'on the pitch' is concerned, in all the leagues in this country.
It would be interesting to know how many prospective supporters are put off by the behaviour of those I have described on here??
I look forward to some feedback!!!!
Don't bother giving me negative karma, I don't give a sh*t!!!!!
Gerard...
see, I'll even give you my real name!!
