It seems to me to be a 'back-door' way of driving the start-up airlines out of business (anyone remember Freddie Laker and Skytrain) Since Ryanair and other similar airlines began offering scheduled flights at a reasonable prices and still show a profit the major national carriers have had to cut their prices to match the competition on similar routes , There is nothing more that BA, AirFrance/KLM and Lufthansa would like to see than the end of these cheap flights ,then the prices go up again, you can be sure that the major airlines carry more lobbying weight in Brusels and London than a ****ant sized start-up airline.
