Cheers entwisi, just going to root the box out and see if it came with an adapter but I don't think it did. Will def try that first, especially with those prices Mick.
That is extortionate, especially when it looks like it could be a weak spot on the camera. I was having a quick look on line and found a camera forum were they were discussing it.
