British Law Undermined???
Browsing through Jeremy Vine’s message board I came across a topic that was totally new to me but I wasn’t really surprised by it.
This link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6190080.stm explains.
In a nutshell there are today, ethnic and religious courts in parallel with British courts and with the blessing of British law.
To quote from the above link;
Quote:
“A number of parallel legal universes have been quietly evolving among minority communities. As well as Somali customary law, Islamic and Jewish laws are being applied and enforced in parts of the UK.
Islamic and Jewish law remains confined to civil matters. But the BBC's Law in Action programme has learned that the Somali court hears criminal cases too.”

Should we the incumbents of these sceptred isles be worried by this growing trend?
It is unlikely to affect me personally being as I am in my twilight years but I am concerned for my progeny.
How long before these ethnic courts, particularly an Islamic court, clashes with British law and comes out on top?
