I have very fond memories of Rhyddings park during the 60s as a young boy. We lived on Yew Tree Drive in those days so the park was a handy place to play. I recall access via a side gennel, & turning left passed a gardener's hut(?). The whole park felt like a maze, with paths, trees and bushes, beautifully maintained flowers & shrubs. There was a bowling green and a long drop down towards Park Lane. Best of all was the playground with its slide, r/about, sand pit and swings. I remember being doubled up on a swing with a pal when I smaller boy walked in front of us on the down swing

. Suffice to say, we hit him poor kid. We were that frightened to see blood, we ran off. :-[
Anyone recall the archway that looked like a castle turret on one of the entrances to the playground?
Unfortunately, we moved in 1972 to the wrong side of the pennines. Haven't seen the park since - but I bet if it's like most these days, it will be a shadow of its former self.
