I would have to say yes, as the system seems in this case to be addressing a failure to abide by the established laws. In some cases, we may find that the outcome is not what we would have wanted. There is no perfect system and even the best designed program can come up with unwanted results. If the system is just, the prisoner can only be dealt with as the law allows. Apparently, his term is up and the government failed to either release him or deport him. There may well be a need to change the law to better address future cases, but that would not change the outcome in this one.
If the outcome in this case bothers you, then the best thing you can do is to let your lawmakers know of your objections and what you think should be done to change the law for future cases.
