Well, I must be the odd one out here, having been a single parent and having to go to work for the last 20 years, .. I was only too pleased to leave them to it. The thought of being disturbed at weekends with hammering, banging, doors opening and closing on top of my son usually accompanied by an entourage of friends, and my grandaughter to contend with, just grips me with horror.

I would gladly leave him out the facility for a brew and a few jaffa cakes and tell him to get on with it. Presume he isn't going to go far anyway if you have any complaints .

I find it a nuisance when gas men, delivery men, etc, can only come during the day and I have to arrange for my brother to come up to the house for a short while.. but can't expect him to stay for a whole day whilst a bigger job is done. In fact, have offered to leave the key under a brick or summat, and now they just refuse point blank. Need a new gas meter seemingly, but just can't synchronise our timing. Maybe I am too trusting, but I think the risk value is very low, and never had any problems up to press.
