It's only a few years ago I worked with a bloke who used packet radio. It is more of a BBS type system that true internet IIRC.
I can't remember if I first used BBS's using my Acorn Atom or an old CP/M machine I had ( I think that was the one with 8" floppies
). I do remember the modem was probably as big as the Atom was
