Re: I Wish I’d Done …..
I wish I'd have gone more graciously water ski-ing with my late Dad.
He loved messing about on his boats, and when I think of him now, it is always with a massive grin on his face, whilst jumping the boat's wake, and signalling to go even faster.
Once I'd mastered as much as you can do, on one or two skis, I didn't have the same enthusiasm for it as my Dad did. On holidays, or when I was home for the weekend, I reluctantly went with him and my Mum, to drive the boat. You need a driver and someone to watch and throw the roap.
When he was dieing, half an hour before it happened, I told him at Easter we could go down to their cottage in Pembrokeshire, and that we would have a great time ski-ing together. Both he and I knew this wasn't going to happen, but it was nice to imagine it might, if even for a second.
So...I wish I'd done more things with my Dad, and done a small thing more willingly that made him ecstatically happy. A Dad most of my friends would have given their right arm to have.
