I suppose there's the possibility that it could have had the effect of some people leaving the pub if they felt uncomfortable with watching it, in which case it might not have been in the landlord/lady's best interest to have it on.
On the other hand - if anyone was embarrassed by it they may not have thought of approaching the bar staff because they may well have been told if they didn't like it they could always go elsewhere.
