Many years ago, I was driving down a very empty road in New Mexico and a deer ran right in front of the car - so fast, in fact, that my buddy in the passenger seat didn't even know what we had hit. Fortunately, I was able to control the skid and not roll the car down the embankment. A lot of sheet metal damage, 2000 miles from home!
Another time, I was driving home on a country road and spotted a deer on the verge between the road and a high fence. There was no time to do anything, but the deer decided not to jump out in front of my old, reliable, very old car. Guess he was waiting for something better, as he was killed by the Jaguar immediately behind me!
