A parent of a Year 10 pupil said: "I don’t think kids should ‘grass each other up’ over petty things such as graffiti on the street corner or something that will not actually do any harm. Kids will be kids.

That says a lot about the attitude of kids who vandalise when a parent sees graffiti as nothing harmful. What about the person whose property is on the receiving end and the cost to them of removing the mess? I wonder if the parent also sees no harm in scratching a few cars? It's still a petty crime but not petty to the car owner.

I do think the idea of informing on other pupils is open to abuse though. What is to stop someone doing something and then claiming they saw someone else do it? Not only do they get off scott free but they get a reward as well. I hope the accusations are properly investigated.
