Re: Hyping up Rochdale
I've just sent a grovelling apology email to ASFC explaining that there was no intent to upset Fraser Eagle but as this is a one-off and only just down the road it is far easier for Rossendale Transport (who operate that line anyway) to utilise the buses that aren't used on a saturday (they dont run the double deckers on saturday) at the standard operating cost. Fraser Eagle were asking £10 for the travel on their luxury coaches. RT are asking £3 for their less salubrious but perfectly nice, new and clean, double deckers.
Most fans I have spoken to over the last few weeks have said they would drive, taxi or whatever rather than pay a tenner. I agree, for Bury away (£10 on the coach) 6 of us got a taxi minibus, return to the gate and back to a pub of our choice for a fiver. If people were going to use the 464 anyway then it makes sense to make it official for this particular occasion and avoid all kinds of problems at Accy and Rochdale bus stations and across both town centres IF the maximum amount of people travel.
I expect to get some flak from certain quarters for upsetting the sponsored apple cart, but people would not have supported that coach in numbers. I have a responsibility to the supporters as Chairman of the OSC to try to help where I can, and I have. This should go a long way to ensuring that the maximum possible number of people are in that stand come March 3rd, and hopefully many of them will be new fans who will get bitten by the bug the Ultras will spread. All we need now is for the team to start helping us out a bit with a few points between now and then.
