It may be that these are the only shops in town that can afford the painfull overheads inflicted on them
What you have to realise is, are there enough customers to support these businesses that are shutting down, as for keep knocking the pound shops, I personally have found them great value for money, what difference does it make how little they charge, as there are some real bargains to be had, there are no prizes for being overcharged except an inflated vanity.
